It’s time for the 2020 American Advertising Awards Gala on Friday March 13th, 2020 at the Historic Mission Inn in Downtown Riverside. Student Gala begins at 5:00 pm. Make s ure to enter your best work and you may leave an award winning designer or marketer! Never hurts to have a National marketing award on your resume!

The American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDYs, is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local AAF Club (Ad Club) competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

Friday Enchanted Movie Art Night

This class is designed to set the groundwork for safe pistol handling. It’s a great opportunity for a beginner to ask questions, get answers, and learn in a non-threatening environment. We will start in the classroom and move to the range after all students are comfortable with the basic rules of firearm safety and basic knowledge of the fundamentals of shooting.

*Note* – There is a strict limit of participants in this course to ensure that each student has adequate one-on-one time with an instructor.

BNP Paribas Open

When: March 12-22

Where: Indian Wells Tennis Garden

Status: Canceled.

Information: On Sunday, March 8, tournament officials canceled the popular tennis event after authorities declared a state of emergency Sunday for Coachella Valley. Before the cancellation, organizers offered a refund or credit for 2021 for ticket holders who were concerned about coronavirus. Read the full story.

NBCUniversal’s Peacock Live!

When: March 28-29

Where: Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal City

Status: Postponed.

Information: The inaugural two-day event featuring TV show panels, celebrity appearances, immersive experiences and behind-the-scenes access to NBC shows as well as content from Peacock, the network’s streaming service has been postponed. The event was put off “due to uncertainly surrounding some of the event’s programming elements.” Refunds will be issued and a new date will be announced in the coming months. Beyond Wonderland

When: March 20-21

Where: NOS Events Center, 689 S E. St., San Bernardino

Information: beyondwonderland.com

Insomniac’s big EDM fest at NOS Event Center in San Bernardino themed to “Alice in Wonderland” has a lineup that includes Diplo, Infected Mushroom, Kayzo, Tiesto and more. On Wednesday, before the governor’s announcement, the venue expected festival to continue. Promoter Insomniac tweeted on Tuesday that the show was still on.

WonderCon 2020

When: April 10-12

Where: Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim

Status: Postponed until an unspecified future date.

Information: Comic-Con International, which organizes and operates WonderCon in addition to its flagship event in San Diego, issued a statement Thursday morning in response to the state of California’s request that large gatherings be postponed or canceled. WonderCon is postponed with no new date for now. Refunds are available. For now, Comic-Con, scheduled for late July, is still on.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

When: April 10-12; April 17-19

Where: Empire Polo Club, Indio

Status: Postponed until Oct. 9-11 and Oct. 16-18.

Information: Promoter Goldenvoice moved the festivals to October after Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser ordered the cancellation of the festivals, citing concerns about the possible health risks because of the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) spread, according to a press release from the Riverside County Health Department. Passes purchased will be good for the corresponding October weekends or purchasers can receive a refund. Any lineup changes have not been announced. Read the full story.

Pearl Jam’s Gigaton Tour

When: April 13 at Viejas Arena, San Diego; April 15-16 at The Forum, Inglewood

Status: Postponed

Information: Pearl Jam has postponed the spring leg of its Gigaton Tour due to concerns over coronavirus. The band is working to reschedule the dates as soon as possible.

Stagecoach Country Music Festival

When: April 24-26

Where: Empire Polo Club, Indio

Status: Postponed until Oct. 23-25

Korea Times Music Festival

Where: Hollywood Bowl

Status: Postponed, new date TBD.

Information: Organizers have postponed 18th edition of this festival due to travel restrictions in Asia because of the coronavirus.The festival’s website explains that ticket holders can receive a refund or hold on to the tickets for the rescheduled date. AFI Lifetime Achievement Award Gala

When: April 25

Where: Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles

Status: Postponed until summer; new date TBD.

Information: The American Film Institute postponed its annual Life Achievement Award gala, which was to honor Julie Andrews. Read the full story.

RuPaul’s DragCon

When: May 1-3

Where: Los Angeles Convention Center

Status: Canceled

Information: Event organizers canceled the event as of March 10. “Unfortunately, there’s no way for anyone to know what the situation will be like in May. Due to that uncertainty, and out of an abundance of caution, we’ve decided that it’s in the best interest of the talent, staff, and attendees to cancel RuPaul’s DragCon LA 2020,” a post on the DragCon website reads.

Soka International Festival

When: May 2

Where: Soka University, Aliso Viejo

Status: Canceled.

Information: Responding to concerns from staff members, students and the community, Soka University of America posted on its website that the annual festival is canceled for 2020. The statement reads, “Although the Orange County Health Department currently posts that the risk is low in Orange County, we are aware that many large conventions and events are cancelling because of the worry about possible spread. Because everyone’s safety and health is our primary concern, we are regretfully cancelling what would have been our 19th International Festival.” The 2021 festival will happen on May 1 and those who have paid registration fees have options about refunds.
