Over the weekend, Demi Lovato slammed Instagram for promoting advertisements that can contribute to mental health problems including eating disorders.
Lovato, who has suffered with bulimia in the past, saw an interactive ad pop up on her feed that promoted a fat-shaming game. She posted the ad on her Instagram story.
“So many things wrong with this ad. You can be pretty at any weight.”

At the end, Lovato called on Instagram to keep these ads off the feeds.
“I expect you guys to know better by allowing this advertisement to be allowed on your app.”
In a statement released to TMZ, Instagram apologized and removed the ad.
“We’re sorry. This ad was approved by mistake. We reviewed it again and removed it from future delivery in people’s feeds.”
